Carterton antique landmark Country Charm Antiques and Collectables gained a new address and new look in May 2007.

Country Charm moved about two kilometres south of its previous building and is now nestled at the edge of the main Carterton shopping centre. The historic 1870's building is fully refurbished with new carpets, chandeliers, heating and excellent lighting. With more space and extensive displays, the focus is on high quality antiques and collectables in an elaborate London-style presentation.

The shop is popular with visitors from throughout New Zealand as well as overseas, including one of the great Dr Who's Jon Pertwee. It features unique selection of Antique Porcelain, Silver, Brass, Copper, Crystal Glass and Furniture. We also have an extensive range of collectables and out-of-production china, including Royal Doulton character ware, Beswich Beatrix Potter figurines and many more.

There is a section managed by bespoke tailor Margaret Hunt, dedicated to original vintage outfits and featuring Art Deco clothing, dresses, hats, furs, shoes and handbags. These items make it a popular stop for visitors making the annual pilgrimage to the Hawkes Bay Art Deco weekend, along with weddings and other formal and informal occasions. Country Charm even played a hand in dressing the actors for Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Towards the back of the shop lies the "kitchenalia" area - antiques and collectables from yesteryear, such as old enamel pots and pans, mincers and scales, which have become popular as decorative objects.

For those making the trip to Carterton, we're now within walking distance of both Cafe Bambino and Wild Oats Cafe, both of which have fine coffee and delectable sweet and savoury food. If you desire something more substantial, a short walk offers Spanish, Italian, Turkish and Chinese cuisine, as well as classic New Zealand pub food.
